Kuwait and Bahrain Report Interception of Iranian Drone Attacks

Sanaa: Kuwait and Bahrain said early Wednesday that their air defense systems intercepted Iranian drone attacks as military escalation intensified across the Gulf. Kuwait's army said its air defenses were responding to 'hostile' drone attacks following an Iranian assault.

According to Anadolu Agency, the army stated that explosions heard across parts of the country were due to air defense systems intercepting incoming drones. Authorities urged the public to adhere to safety instructions issued by relevant authorities. Earlier, Kuwaiti authorities mentioned that firefighters had contained a blaze at a site targeted in the Iranian attack, with no injuries reported. However, they did not disclose the nature or location of the site.

Separately, the Bahrain Defense Force reported that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks early Wednesday. Bahrain's Interior Ministry activated air raid sirens and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location. The Bahrain Defense Force described the intercepted attacks as 'treacherous Iranian aerial attacks.'

These developments occur amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. American forces have struck Iran, and Tehran has responded with attacks on US military bases across the region, despite a Pakistani-mediated memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict and establishing a lasting peace agreement.
