Basra: Trkiye on Thursday extended its condolences following a tragic vehicle-ramming incident in Iraq's southern Basra province that resulted in multiple casualties.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement expressing that it was 'deeply saddened' by the incident. The ministry also conveyed wishes for a swift recovery to those who sustained injuries.
The incident claimed the lives of at least nine individuals and left 12 others injured, as reported by Iraq's official INA news agency, citing the Health Ministry. The ministry indicated that these figures are preliminary and that the victims were participating in the Arbaeen Walk, a significant Shia Muslim pilgrimage to the city of Karbala.
The Arbaeen Walk is an annual event where millions of pilgrims journey to Karbala to honor the 40th day following the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, marking it as one of the largest religious assemblies globally.
