Trkiye and Indonesia Commit to Enhanced Media and Communications Collaboration

Jakarta: Trkiye and Indonesia have reached an agreement to strengthen their partnership in media, strategic communications, and public diplomacy. This decision was made during a high-level roundtable discussion in Jakarta, as announced by the Turkish Embassy on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the closed-door meeting took place on Tuesday and included senior officials and media executives from both countries. The goal was to transform existing bilateral agreements into actionable joint projects. The Turkish delegation was headed by Ambassador Talip Kucukcan, while Indonesia was represented by the presidential chief communications adviser.

The discussions were a continuation of memorandums of understanding signed in 2025, endorsed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. These agreements established partnerships between Anadolu and Indonesia's ANTARA news agency, as well as between Turkish broadcaster TRT and Indonesian broadcasters TVRI and RRI.

Both nations agreed to develop joint mechanisms to combat disinformation, improve coordination in crisis communications, and create public diplomacy projects focused on cultural heritage and zero-waste gastrodiplomacy. They also committed to expanding content and expertise sharing, organizing regular training programs for media professionals, and facilitating the transfer of advanced media technologies.

The Turkish Embassy indicated that follow-up efforts are in progress to implement the projects agreed upon during the meeting.
