Kuwait Controls Fires Sparked by Iranian Strikes in Southern Region

Kuwait city: Kuwaiti firefighters successfully controlled two fires that erupted in the country's southern regions following Iranian military strikes, as reported by the state-run KUNA news agency. The incidents occurred at two separate locations, and emergency teams swiftly responded to contain the blazes.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kuwait Fire Force spokesperson Mohammed Al-Gharib stated that the emergency teams managed to bring the fires under control at the sites targeted by Iranian attacks. Al-Gharib assured that there were no casualties, with the damage being confined to material losses.

On the same day, Iran announced it had launched retaliatory strikes against US military assets in Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Jordan, and Bahrain. These attacks reportedly led to damage at several military facilities, including air bases, radar systems, weapons depots, and military aircraft.

Kuwait, along with Jordan and Bahrain, reported successful interceptions of Iranian missiles and drones. Qatar also claimed to have thwarted several aerial attacks, although one child was injured by falling shrapnel during interception operations.

The recent escalation in regional tensions follows a joint offensive by the US and Israel against Iran in February, which prompted Tehran to launch missile and drone strikes targeting Gulf nations hosting US assets. Despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding signed last month between Iran and the US aimed at resolving their conflict, tensions have heightened in recent days, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides engaging in attacks.
