Brussels: Takeoff and landing operations have temporarily been suspended at Kuwait International Airport, Kuwait's national carrier announced on Saturday, adding that it rescheduled most of its flights due to the measure.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kuwait Airways stated that "most flights have been rescheduled due to the temporary suspension of takeoffs and landings at Kuwait International Airport as a result of the Iranian aggression," as reported by the state-run KUNA news agency. The airline has advised passengers to stay updated on their flight status amidst the ongoing disruptions.

The suspension of operations comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. The United States recently launched strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with strikes targeting regional countries, including Kuwait, which hosts US assets. This exchange of fire between Washington and Tehran has occurred despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June aimed at ending the war and reaching a lasting peace agreement.
