Nairobi: The Kuwaiti army announced that its armed forces are actively responding to "hostile missile and drone threats" as tensions with Iran continue to rise. Recent days have seen intensified military activity, with Iran conducting strikes that have prompted defensive measures by Kuwait.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Kuwaiti army communicated via the social media platform X, informing the public that any explosions heard are due to air defense systems intercepting these threats. The army has also advised residents to adhere to security instructions provided by the authorities.

The situation has escalated over the past week, with the United States executing a series of strikes on Iranian sites. In retaliation, Iran has targeted facilities and bases that it claims are utilized by the US military in several countries across the region, including Kuwait. This rise in hostilities occurs despite a memorandum of understanding facilitated by Pakistan in June, which aimed to mitigate conflict and establish a lasting peace between Washington and Tehran.
