Nairobi: Air raid alerts were activated across Bahrain on Sunday as Iran continued its missile and drone attacks against Gulf countries, heightening tensions with the United States. The Bahraini Interior Ministry issued a statement urging residents and citizens "to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place."
According to Anadolu Agency, regional tensions have been on the rise since last week, following US military actions against Iran. Tehran has retaliated with strikes targeting facilities and bases that Iran claims are utilized by the US military in several regional countries, including Bahrain.
The ongoing exchange of hostilities between Washington and Tehran comes despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June, intended to end their conflict and establish a lasting peace agreement.
