Nairobi: Kuwait's Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Ministry reported that a power and water desalination plant suffered a new Iranian attack on Sunday, resulting in a fire. This incident marks the second attack targeting Kuwait's power facilities from Iran, as stated by the ministry in a statement released through the state-run news agency KUNA.

According to Anadolu Agency, the attack impacted "a large number of generating units," prompting the activation of emergency plans. Authorities responded quickly to mitigate the effects of the situation. Kuwaiti authorities had reported a similar Iranian attack on Saturday.

The escalation of tensions in the Middle East has been evident in recent days. The US has launched attacks on Iran, which led to Tehran retaliating with strikes on facilities and bases. These sites are claimed by Iran to be used by the US military across various regional countries. The exchange of hostilities between Washington and Tehran persists, despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June aimed at ending their conflict and achieving a lasting peace agreement.
