Argentina to Declare National Holiday for World Cup Team’s Performance, Says President

Sanaa: Argentina's President Javier Milei announced plans to declare a national holiday to celebrate the country's football team following their performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The declaration aims to honor the team's achievements despite their narrow 1-0 loss to Spain in Sunday's final.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Milei stated that the specific day for the national holiday will be determined based on the preferences of the players and coaching staff. He communicated this decision through the US social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of allowing citizens the opportunity to welcome the squad back to Buenos Aires.

The Argentina Football Association revealed that part of the team, including players, coaching staff, and other personnel, will return to Argentina on Monday. They are expected to arrive at around 5 pm local time (2000GMT). Meanwhile, some players will head directly from the US to various locations to rejoin their clubs or begin their rest period.
