Sanaa: Firefighting efforts following the major fire that erupted late Friday in Norway are expected to continue for another 10 days, authorities announced Monday. Regional authorities told Norwegian daily VG that the fire service anticipated extended firefighting efforts in response to the blaze.

According to Anadolu Agency, Stale Fuglaas, operations manager for the South-East Police District, indicated that this would be a prolonged operation due to the substantial amount of heat remaining in the area. More than 400 individuals were evacuated after the fire swept through a residential area in southeastern Norway, resulting in the destruction of over 100 homes.

The fire originated in a townhouse in the Krokstadelva area of Drammen on Friday afternoon and quickly spread to nearby homes and the surrounding woodland. By Monday, the fire was reportedly still smoldering, with authorities maintaining that the danger persisted.

Both police and fire officials have emphasized the long-term nature of the operation. Erik Smidsrod, the fire service duty officer, refrained from declaring the situation under control, noting that while conditions had improved, caution remained necessary.
