Ankara: Visiting Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni met Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday amid escalating hostilities with the US, according to an official statement.
According to Anadolu Agency, Momeni arrived in Islamabad on Monday for discussions with Pakistani leaders on the evolving regional situation. The talks included a de-escalation proposal supported by both Pakistan and Qatar, aimed at ending the hostilities and paving the way for the resumption of stalled negotiations.
During his visit, Momeni is also scheduled to meet with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. The meeting aims to further discuss regional security and collaboration between the two countries.
Earlier on Tuesday, Momeni attended a "grand parade" organized by Islamabad police in his honor. Footage released by Pakistan's Information Ministry showed Momeni reviewing the parade alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, highlighting the significance of the visit in strengthening bilateral ties.
