Ankara: The UN human rights office announced on Tuesday that Israeli military actions continue to result in civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip, even after the declaration of a ceasefire. The office highlighted concerns over potential war crimes and other serious violations.

According to Anadolu Agency, UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan addressed reporters in Geneva, stating that the situation remains dire for Palestinians in Gaza. Al-Kheetan reported that the Palestinian Health Ministry has documented over 1,100 Palestinian deaths due to Israeli military actions since October 2025. The UN rights office has verified 685 of these fatalities, which include 283 women and children, with further verification ongoing.

The spokesperson detailed that between July 13 and 20, at least 57 Palestinians were killed, including six children and eight women. Notably, 34 of these fatalities occurred outside the Israeli-enforced "yellow line," suggesting a breach of designated safety zones.

Al-Kheetan expressed grave concerns regarding the continued civilian casualties, which point to violations of international humanitarian law and potential war crimes. He called upon international actors to take immediate measures to enforce the ceasefire, halt violations, and ensure accountability and justice for the affected populations.
