Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China's ambition to strengthen its relationship with the European Union during discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. The meeting took place in Beijing, where Xi emphasized the importance of Slovakia's role in promoting stable and healthy EU-China relations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Xi stated that China views the EU as a partner and is committed to fostering ties with the bloc through sincerity and goodwill. The discussions, which occurred during Pellegrini's state visit to China, highlighted the focus on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between China and Europe.

Xi reiterated Beijing's support for constructive engagement with the EU, aligning with the broader goal of stable interactions. Pellegrini's visit, marking his first state visit to China since taking office in 2024, began on Monday and spans three days.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian previously mentioned China's readiness to work with Slovakia to deepen traditional friendship, enhance political trust, and expand cooperation across various fields. In 2025, trade between China and Slovakia saw Chinese exports reaching $4.39 billion, while imports totaled $4.24 billion, as reported by state broadcaster CGTN.
