Samsun: An Italian-born Australian man, Mario Gabrieli, and his 11-year-old son, Leonardo, are on an extraordinary world tour, traveling on a 50-year-old Vespa. Their journey, which began from Sydney on January 5, is a dream come true for Gabrieli, who wanted to explore the world with his son under the project 'I Due Caschi,' translating to 'The Two Helmets.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Gabrieli, originally from Trieste, Italy, has resided in Australia for over twenty years. His motivation for this unique voyage was to expose his son to a variety of countries, cultures, religions, landscapes, and histories. Their journey has taken them across Southeast and Central Asia after initial sea crossings by ferry and ship from Indonesia.

The duo has faced long hours on the road and frequent technical challenges with their vintage scooter. However, they have persevered, thanks to the kindness and assistance from people they have met along the way. After traversing Azerbaijan and Georgia, they arrived in Trkiye, reaching the city of Samsun after stopping in Trabzon.

Gabrieli expressed his admiration for Samsun, describing it as a wonderful city, and shared that their entire journey is anticipated to span ten months. "I wanted to take Leonardo from our home in Australia to Trieste, where I was born. I thought traveling by Vespa would be a good way for him to experience the world," Gabrieli explained.

Leonardo shared that one of the highlights of their journey was traversing the Pamir Highway in Central Asia. During their stay in Samsun, they were warmly welcomed by the Atakum Sailing Sports Club, where Leonardo had the opportunity to join local young athletes on a brief sailing adventure.

The father and son are set to continue their travels through Amasya, Cappadocia, and Antalya. They aim to conclude their remarkable trip in Trieste, covering an impressive distance of nearly 40,000 kilometers.
