Salfit: Israeli occupiers established a new illegal settlement outpost Tuesday on Palestinian land in the town of Yasuf, east of Salfit in the northern West Bank, marking the third such outpost in the province in two days. Yasuf council chief Juma Abdel Fattah reported that Israeli occupiers set up the new outpost northeast of the town by erecting a tent in the Al-Nasba area, approximately 50 meters from Palestinian homes. This area has been subjected to repeated violence by occupiers, and two Palestinian homes are currently under threat of demolition by Israeli authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abdel Fattah expressed concern that the new outpost is part of an Israeli strategy to impose facts on the ground and tighten restrictions on residents. This development is the third outpost established in Salfit province over the past two days. Settlement outposts are typically initiated by occupiers setting up mobile homes or tents on Palestinian land, which are later transformed into illegal permanent settlements with support from the Israeli government.

The United Nations considers the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as occupied Palestinian territory and asserts that all Israeli settlement activities in these areas are illegal under international law. Recent weeks have seen an increase in occupier attacks on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank. Palestinians, alongside Israeli and international rights groups, accuse the Israeli army of protecting occupiers and, at times, participating in these attacks.

According to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, occupiers carried out 3,488 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the first half of 2026. These attacks included assaults on individuals and property, the establishment of new settlement outposts, and preventing farmers from accessing their land.
