Tehran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared on Thursday that it has control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and promised immediate retaliation in response to overnight US military actions.
According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC released a statement through the state-run news agency IRNA asserting their control over the Strait of Hormuz. The statement emphasized that the IRGC Navy's forces are in firm control of the region, and warned against any foreign interference from parties located thousands of kilometers away.
The IRGC's statement also mentioned that with divine assistance, they plan to punish the aggressor within the day. This declaration follows a series of US military strikes.
The US Central Command earlier announced that American forces conducted a substantial series of strikes against Iran. These actions were in retaliation for what the US described as attempted missile attacks on its forces stationed in the Middle East.
