Israeli Airstrike Destroys Medical Warehouses Near Hospital in Central Gaza

Gaza city: Israeli fighter jets launched a devastating airstrike on medical warehouses adjacent to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, early Saturday. Witnesses reported extensive destruction of critical medical facilities and surrounding tents housing displaced Palestinians.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army's assault annihilated two of the four medical warehouses and caused severe damage to the remaining two. The attack also obliterated tents sheltering around 1,000 displaced persons. Hospital spokesperson Khalil al-Daqran highlighted the grave loss of vital medical supplies, including intravenous solutions and materials crucial for dialysis and intensive care units.

The Gaza Health Ministry condemned the airstrike as a 'direct and systematic' attack on Gaza's health infrastructure, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting medical facilities and restricting the flow of essential medical supplies into the region. The ministry called for urgent intervention by international and humanitarian organizations to stop further aggression and safeguard healthcare services.

Al-Daqran pointed out the worrying consequences for healthcare delivery due to the destruction, emphasizing the severe shortages already faced by Gaza's health sector. The attack left a significant crater and damaged surrounding hospital structures, further jeopardizing medical operations.

Displaced residents, including Umm Mohammed Wadi, recounted the chaos and fear as evacuation warnings prompted hasty escapes just moments before the strikes. Many returned to find their temporary shelters completely destroyed, further exacerbating their precarious living conditions.

The incident underscores the dire situation of Gaza's healthcare system, already crippled by a longstanding Israeli blockade and critical shortages of medical supplies. Despite international calls for peace, the region continues to endure relentless attacks, leading to significant loss of life and infrastructure damage.
