Belarus Establishes Airborne Assault Brigade Near Ukraine Border

Gomel: Belarus announced the formation of an airborne assault brigade near its border with Ukraine on Sunday. The brigade will be stationed near the city of Gomel, which is located approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

According to Anadolu Agency, Special Operations Forces Commander Alexander Ilyukevich conveyed this development to the Belarusian Defense Ministry's VoenTV channel. He mentioned that several military units and subunits have already been established, with personnel being called up and officers recruited. Preparations for their intended deployment are currently underway.

Ilyukevich further stated that the brigade is expected to be deployed to its permanent base next year, marking a significant step in the military strategy of Belarus in the region.
