Palestine: The Palestinian Authority (PA) stated on Monday that the agreement to implement the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal has yet to be enacted as Israeli attacks on Palestinians persist.
According to Anadolu Agency, PA spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh expressed that the announcement of the agreement did not result in a comprehensive cessation of aggression or safeguard for the Palestinian people. In a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, at least 18 Palestinians were killed, despite a ceasefire being in place since October 10, 2025. Additionally, ten more individuals were killed by Israeli fire in the enclave a day earlier.
Abu Rudeineh accused Israel of continuing its aggressive actions against the Palestinian people despite the announced agreement. He emphasized that the deal "remains on paper" as the killings continue on the ground. He also warned about Israel's disregard for international efforts aimed at preventing what he termed genocide against Palestinians.
The PA spokesman called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks and the destruction of Palestinian refugee camps and villages, asserting that these actions are part of a broader assault targeting the Palestinian presence and the refugee issue. Abu Rudeineh urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take swift measures to compel Israel to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. He highlighted the necessity of ending military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and providing international protection for Palestinians.
Abu Rudeineh remarked that Israel's continued impunity encourages further violations of international law and humanitarian law. He asserted that security and stability in the region can only be achieved by ending the occupation, halting aggression, and working towards a just and lasting peace based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Friday, the Board of Peace and US President Donald Trump announced an agreement to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, noting that Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not officially commented on the proposal. Since October 2023, Israel's actions in Gaza have resulted in more than 73,000 deaths and over 174,000 injuries.
Despite the ceasefire agreement effective since October 10, 2025, Israeli attacks across the enclave have continued, leading to the deaths of 1,250 Palestinians and injuries to 4,110 others, as reported by Gaza's Health Ministry.
