Kerala: The death toll from floods in the southern Indian state of Kerala has risen to 20, as reported by state-run Doordarshan News on Tuesday. The devastating floods have led to significant displacement, with approximately 11,500 individuals being relocated to relief camps. Rescue and relief operations continue to be a priority across the affected areas in the state.

According to Anadolu Agency, V.D. Satheesan, chief minister of Kerala, communicated his commitment to the relief efforts through a series of posts on the US social media platform X. He assured the public of his personal engagement, stating he had visited several disaster relief camps in the rain-affected regions. "We will overcome this together," Satheesan emphasized, highlighting the collective effort needed to tackle the calamity.

In addition to addressing the immediate relief measures, Satheesan also warned against the spread of misinformation during this critical period. In another post on X, he declared, "Strict legal action will be initiated against those spreading fake news on social media to create unnecessary public panic." This statement underscores the administration's focus on maintaining public order and ensuring accurate communication.
