Moscow: The Russian Defense Ministry announced Tuesday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted 1,671 Ukrainian drones within a 24-hour period, a figure they claim sets a new record for drone interceptions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the previous record was achieved on Sunday, with 1,478 drones intercepted. The ministry detailed that the air defense systems targeted and brought down 1,671 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles in this latest operation.

Additionally, the ministry stated that Russian forces had taken control of the settlements of Krasnopodillya and Orikhuvatka in the Donetsk region. The forces reportedly struck various logistical centers, and attacked fuel, energy, and transport infrastructure utilized by Ukrainian forces. The strikes were also aimed at drone assembly facilities and storage sites for drones and their components, along with temporary deployment sites for Ukrainian troops and foreign personnel across 148 locations.

In a separate announcement, the ministry mentioned that Russian strike drones targeted fuel tanks at the port of Odesa on Monday evening, alleging that the fuel was destined for Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian officials have yet to respond to these claims, and independent verification remains challenging amid the ongoing conflict.
