Yemen’s Houthis Claim Successful Operations Against Saudi Targets

Yemen: Yemen's Ansar Allah group, commonly known as the Houthis, has announced that its forces executed 31 military operations targeting Saudi interests over the past month, focusing on oil tankers and military assets.

According to Anadolu Agency, Houthi spokesman Ameen Hayyan revealed on social media that these operations aimed to restrict Saudi maritime navigation, disrupt military deployments, and respond to alleged violations of Yemeni sovereignty. Between July 20 and August 19, Houthi forces reportedly attacked eight Saudi oil tankers, five in the Red Sea and three in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.

Hayyan further claimed that 48 Saudi oil tankers were prevented from navigating regional waterways, with 14 targeted in the Red Sea and 34 in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Additionally, Houthi forces allegedly conducted nine operations against targets in Saudi regions including Yanbu, Najran, Jizan, and Abha, along with oil facilities in the Eastern Province.

The spokesperson stated that these actions were in retaliation for Saudi strikes on Yemen's Sanaa airport and Hodeidah seaport, as well as alleged airspace violations over the Saada and Hajjah regions. Other operations reportedly targeted Saudi military deployments in Yemen's Ruwik, Al-Abr, Al-Wadiah, Marib, and Mocha regions, and vessels carrying military personnel and equipment.

Hayyan asserted that the combined operations resulted in hundreds of Saudi and Saudi-backed personnel being killed or injured and significant military equipment destroyed. The group also claimed to have neutralized two amphibious landing ships near Mocha and over ten military vessels in the Red Sea.

Saudi officials have not yet responded to these claims. Hayyan warned that further escalations by Riyadh would provoke proportionate responses from the Houthis. Tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis have been escalating, with the latter claiming a series of drone and missile attacks on Saudi territory and energy facilities.
