Jerusalem: Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon on Thursday accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately escalating tensions with Trkiye through an attack on an airport in northern Syria. Yaalon made these remarks on the US social media platform X, emphasizing that the attack had drawn condemnation from the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yaalon accused Netanyahu of maintaining multiple conflict fronts for Israel and attempting to create new ones to evade responsibility for the October 7 attack. Yaalon held Netanyahu accountable for the attack and the ensuing crisis in Israel, asserting that the prime minister needed the conflict to persist to avoid a state commission of inquiry.

Yaalon alleged that after the October 7 attack, Netanyahu aligned with what he termed "messianists," viewing the attack as a "miracle" that could be leveraged for a "Gog and Magog war." He claimed the goal was to conquer the "Promised Land," extending from the Euphrates River in the north to the "Brook of Egypt" in the south, and to populate it with Jews after clearing it of non-Jews.

Regarding Syria, Yaalon contended that Israel had missed a strategic opportunity following setbacks to Hezbollah and the Iranian presence. In the context of the Gaza Strip, Yaalon claimed that former US President Donald Trump had enforced a "Board of Peace," involving Trkiye and Qatar, along with a "15-point document" on Netanyahu, which he described as unfavorable for Israel.

In relation to Lebanon, Yaalon suggested that Trump was attempting to enforce an arrangement on Netanyahu that "could be good for Israel," but the Israeli leader was avoiding it. On the subject of Iran, Yaalon claimed that Netanyahu had aimed to change the Iranian government to compensate for what he described as his own failures, resulting in a "farce" and a crisis with Trump.

Moreover, Yaalon accused Netanyahu of seeking to escalate tensions in the occupied West Bank through individuals he described as "pogromists," who he claimed were receiving backing from Israeli government ministers. He alleged that Netanyahu was ignoring warnings from US Ambassador Mike Huckabee and that attacks were ongoing.

Yaalon argued that the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem presented Netanyahu with the most significant opportunity to ignite another conflict. He urged Israeli opposition leaders to concentrate their efforts on ousting Netanyahu from power to save civilian and soldier lives and "prevent destruction."
