Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Iran is reportedly unable to pay large segments of its military. He also highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis the country is facing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expressed his concerns on his Truth Social platform, stating that the "failing Islamic Republic of Iran" is not only experiencing financial difficulties in compensating its military but is also engaging in violent actions against protesters. He described these actions as unprecedented and called for immediate intervention to halt the crisis unfolding in Iran.

The situation comes after Washington and Tehran attempted to resolve tensions by signing a framework agreement in June. The agreement aimed to cease hostilities and restore shipping operations through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. However, disagreements over the execution of the agreement and navigation rights led to its collapse.

The conflict initially arose in late February following a coordinated US-Israeli military strike on Iran. In retaliation, Iran targeted Israeli locations and US military installations in the Middle East, escalating tensions in the already volatile region.
