Ankara: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Thursday that there are no ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, reinforcing the current stance of the US administration.

According to Anadolu Agency, Leavitt emphasized the US's focus on applying economic pressure on Iran through an initiative termed 'Operation Economic Outcast.' She highlighted that President Donald Trump has not ruled out any options, indicating a strategic stance that maintains all possibilities open. Leavitt informed Fox News that the administration is awaiting a meaningful approach from Iran before any talks could resume.

Leavitt mentioned previous actions, such as 'Operation Epic Fury,' aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities, and reiterated the US's control over the Strait of Hormuz. She credited President Trump and the US military for keeping the vital waterway open, underscoring its significance in the broader geopolitical landscape.

Despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding in June, facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar, progress has been hindered by disagreements concerning the Strait of Hormuz. This has led to heightened tensions, with the US restarting military operations against Iran last month, prompting retaliatory strikes from Tehran on US-aligned military assets in the region.
