Jeddah: An Iraqi diplomatic delegation participated in the proceedings of the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The session was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization in Jeddah.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ambassador Mawloud Ahmed Musleh Al-Mashhadani, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, led the Iraqi delegation. He represented Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at the session, which was chaired by the Republic of Turkey, the chair for the fifty-first session of the Council of Foreign Ministers.

During the session, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed was elected as the new Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The session also involved discussions and reviews of various issues on the agenda, with participation from a number of foreign ministers from member states, as well as heads and representatives of delegations from countries involved in the organization.
