Ankara: Trkiye has no particular "political value" in fueling enmity with Israel, former US Ambassador to Trkiye Francis J. Ricciardone said. Speaking on Al Jazeera's This Is America program, Ricciardone contrasted the political dynamics in Trkiye and Israel.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ricciardone stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not gain political leverage by promoting hostility towards Israel. He emphasized that Erdogan "genuinely dislikes" or opposes Israel's treatment of Palestinians, especially in Gaza, and has consistently maintained these views.

The former envoy highlighted a different political perspective for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Ricciardone suggested that for Netanyahu, portraying Israel as being in conflict with another entity might have political advantages. He alluded to the potential implications of this strategy in the upcoming Israeli legislative elections scheduled for October.
