Plesetsk: Russia announced on Friday the successful launch of a mobile solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, located in the Arkhangelsk region of northwestern Russia. The ICBM reached its designated target area at the Kura training ground in Russia's Kamchatka region, situated in the Far East.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement detailing the procedure involved in the launch. The Strategic Missile Forces practiced redeploying a mobile ICBM launch battery to a remote location, followed by the preparation and execution of the launch. The purpose of this exercise was to validate the tactical, technical, and flight characteristics of the missile system.

The specific type of missile used in the exercise was not disclosed by the ministry. Russia's Strategic Missile Forces, which oversee the country's land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, play a crucial role in its nuclear deterrence capabilities.

In a related event in May, the Defense Ministry reported the launch of a Yars intercontinental ballistic missile from the same cosmodrome, targeting the Kura training ground, as part of nuclear drills that also involved Belarus.
