Bishkek: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve international conflicts, highlighting the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Modi addressed the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, asserting that "the solution to all tensions and conflicts cannot be found on the battlefield, but only through dialogue and diplomacy." His remarks underscore India's consistent stance on conflict resolution through peaceful means.

Modi further elaborated on the broadened scope of security in today's interconnected world, pointing out that conflicts such as the one in the Middle East have widespread repercussions. "Its impact is felt across the world in energy security, maritime trade, and supply chains," he noted, adding that countries in the Global South suffer the most from these global tensions.

The Indian leader urged the SCO members to transform shared geography into shared opportunities, aiming to bring positive changes through collective efforts. His call comes at a time when global uncertainty and instability are prominent.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have persisted since hostilities began with strikes on Iran in late February. Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine war continues to rage on, marking its fourth anniversary this past February, despite ongoing US-led peace initiatives.
