Vladivostok: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday stated that Russia anticipates a 'new record' in bilateral trade turnover with China during discussions with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang in Vladivostok, Russia's Far East.
According to Anadolu Agency, Putin highlighted that over the last three years, trade turnover has consistently surpassed $200 billion. By 2025, this figure is expected to approach $240 billion, establishing a robust foundation for bilateral cooperation. "We predict a new record for this year," Putin remarked during the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum.
Putin emphasized that the frequent interactions between Moscow and Beijing underscore the 'unprecedented nature' of their bilateral ties. These ties are evolving dynamically across various domains, based on principles of equality, mutual support on key issues, mutual understanding, and consideration of each other's interests.
He noted that mutual investment between Russia and China is on the rise, with particular emphasis on deepening cooperation in the energy sector. "Russia is the leading supplier of traditional Russian goods to the Chinese market. Furthermore, Moscow is Beijing's key partner in the peaceful use of nuclear energy," Putin added.
Expressing optimism, Putin conveyed confidence that their joint efforts to identify optimal paths for advancing economic cooperation will strengthen Russian-Chinese relations.
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang affirmed that the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between their countries is steadily deepening under the leadership of Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He expressed readiness to collaborate with Russian counterparts to implement agreements reached at the state level and to take effective measures to further integrate their countries' interests.
Ding also emphasized the significance of the Eastern Economic Forum as a platform for fostering a common understanding of cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries. He reiterated China's commitment to supporting and participating in the development of the Far East.
Both the Chinese vice premier and the Russian president are slated to attend the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, where Putin will deliver a speech.
