Berlin: German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new commitment to bolster Ukraine's air defense capabilities by providing additional military support. Speaking at a video conference of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Pistorius detailed Germany's plan to supply more Patriot interceptors, AIM-9 missiles, and IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine, emphasizing the urgency of preparing Ukraine for the upcoming winter.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pistorius underscored the importance of acting decisively to enhance Ukraine's resilience against potential Russian hybrid attacks. He called upon other members of the contact group to evaluate their inventories and consider contributing to Ukraine's defense needs. Pistorius highlighted Germany's decision to supply Patriot PAC-2 interceptor missiles from the Bundeswehr stocks, encouraging other nations to prioritize Ukraine's requirements.

Additionally, Germany will increase its supply of AIM-9 air-to-air missiles from its military reserves, Pistorius confirmed. He reiterated Germany's ongoing commitment to provide IRST air defense systems along with guided missiles, which Ukraine plans to augment by ordering several thousand additional IRST-guided missiles, funded by the EU-Ukraine Defense Loan.

Furthermore, Pistorius stated that Germany will maintain its delivery of drones and long-range ammunition to Ukraine. To support stabilization efforts, Berlin will finance the procurement of tens of thousands of rounds of long-range artillery ammunition through the British Artillery and Air Defense Consortium. These efforts are part of Germany's continuous support to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
