Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he anticipates the conflict between the United States and Iran will conclude shortly after the November 3 US midterm elections. Speaking to reporters before his trip to Dallas, Texas, where he was set to address the Republican Party's first midterm convention, Trump expressed confidence in the imminent resolution of the hostilities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump suggested that Iran is striving to influence the outcome of the elections, but he firmly stated that the US is not interested in resuming nuclear negotiations with Tehran. Trump emphasized that while a negotiation could be possible, it is not a priority for his administration. He also highlighted his administration's broader strategy, stating, "There is a lot more than nuclear," underscoring the multifaceted approach beyond just nuclear agreements.

Trump further claimed that recent US military actions in the Strait of Hormuz have significantly impacted Iran's naval capabilities, with nine Iranian tankers rendered inoperative. He hinted at future operations, stating, "You're going to see a lot more."

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during his visit to Ecuador, dismissed allegations that Iran is receiving external support that could affect the ongoing conflict. Addressing these claims, Rubio remarked, "These are anonymous people. They make stuff up all the time," and stressed that the US does not have any evidence of substantial external assistance to Iran.

Rubio reiterated the consequences of Iran's aggressive actions against US naval forces, revealing that Iran had lost multiple tankers as a result of continued attacks. He confirmed that the US would persist in imposing economic sanctions on Iran, asserting, "In the meantime, we're going to continue to strangle them economically."
