Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to engage in detailed discussions during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China, as confirmed by a Kremlin aide on Thursday. The agreement for this meeting was reached during their interactions at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan last week.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yury Ushakov, a Russian presidential aide, revealed that the APEC summit is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen from November 18-19. Ushakov also hinted at the possibility of a trilateral meeting involving Putin, Xi, and US President Donald Trump during the summit.

Apart from the APEC summit, Ushakov briefed reporters on Putin's forthcoming visit to India for the 18th BRICS summit. The Russian president is expected to depart for New Delhi late Thursday, with initial talks planned with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival on Friday. Additionally, Putin will have meetings with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on the sidelines of the summit.

Ushakov emphasized Putin's participation in the BRICS Business Forum, clarifying that there are no scheduled meetings with Xi at the BRICS summit. However, he suggested that informal interactions between the two leaders might occur behind the scenes. Ushakov described BRICS as a significant entity in global governance, committed to multilateralism and adhering to international law and UN Charter principles.
