Pro-Palestinian Groups Protest Israeli President’s Visit to Greek Cypriot Administration

Nicosia: Israeli President Isaac Herzog faced protests from pro-Palestinian human rights groups during his visit to the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus.

According to Anadolu Agency, demonstrators gathered outside the Greek Cypriot Presidential Palace. The protest was organized by several groups, including Genocide-Free Cyprus, Far Right Watch Cy, Cyprus Palestine Solidarity Action, BDS Cyprus, the Cyprus Peace Council, the Alliance Against the Far Right, Fascism and Racism, and Voices for Palestine Cyprus. The protesters carried banners with messages such as 'Freedom for Palestine' and 'No to War!' and chanted slogans like 'End the genocide' and 'No to imperialist wars.'

Greek Cypriot police implemented extensive security measures during Herzog's visit and the related demonstration, which included closing several roads and streets in Nicosia. Herzog's visit to the Greek Cypriot Administration was at the invitation of its leader, Nikos Christodoulides.
