Washington: Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called for a stronger American position if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reelected. Clinton expressed these views during an interview with broadcaster MS Now, emphasizing the importance of America's stance in light of Israel's upcoming general elections scheduled for October 27.

According to Anadolu Agency, Clinton highlighted media reports suggesting that Netanyahu received prior warnings from the United Arab Emirates about Hamas' planned attack before October 7, 2023. She criticized Netanyahu for either dismissing the warning or considering how the situation could benefit his political stance, which she labeled as a failure in leadership and protection of Israeli citizens.

Clinton, a well-known critic of Netanyahu, reiterated her disapproval of his government and policies while maintaining her support for Israel. She also compared her views on Netanyahu to her opinions on former U.S. President Donald Trump, whom she opposed in the 2016 presidential election.

Clinton further expressed hope for changes in Israeli leadership, specifically mentioning the need for a new prime minister to address settler violence in the West Bank. She warned against the dangers of allowing unchecked violence, which she believes is detrimental to both Palestinians and Israelis.

Her comments come amid increasing violence in the West Bank, following intensified military actions in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian authorities have reported various human rights violations, including killings, arrests, and property destruction. They assert that such actions by Israeli forces and settlers could lead to the annexation of the West Bank, jeopardizing the possibility of a Palestinian state as envisioned by United Nations resolutions.
