Kyiv: Overnight airstrikes injured at least eight people in Ukraine's capital Kyiv, while attacks in Russia targeted a logistics center in the Saratov region belonging to an e-commerce retailer, local authorities said on Friday. Saratov Governor Roman Busargin reported damage to civilian infrastructure in the regional capital, with all emergency services working at the scene. He noted that preliminary reports indicated no casualties, without providing further details on the infrastructure targeted.
According to Anadolu Agency, Russian online retailer Ozon declared that its logistics center and delivery hub in Saratov was hit by a drone attack, resulting in a fire. The company stated that goods stored at the facility were being removed from the storefront, affecting order availability. Some orders would be canceled, while others would be fulfilled from different logistics centers. Acceptance and delivery of new orders for customers in Saratov and the surrounding region were temporarily suspended.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses shot down 777 Ukrainian drones across 16 regions, as well as over the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and Crimea. Ukraine has increased drone strikes on Russian logistics facilities in a campaign that began in mid-July, targeting logistics centers of Russia's largest e-commerce retailer Wildberries in multiple regions, and strikes have expanded to facilities belonging to Ozon since last month. Kyiv alleges that both retailers are involved in Moscow's military supply chain, a claim Moscow and the companies deny.
In Ukraine, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) reported that eight people were injured following an attack on a nine-story residential building. A fire broke out in the building in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district, while the State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported another fire in a warehouse in the Obolonskyi district. The DSNS noted that the warehouse fire was extinguished without injuries. Ukraine's Air Force claimed air defenses downed 138 out of 161 drones launched by Russia overnight.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed launching overnight attacks in Ukraine, claiming to have hit "Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and logistics centers involved in the production and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles." It also reported targeting data centers in the capital and the Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as port infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region. Independent verification of these claims remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
