Ankara: US diesel prices hit a new record high on Monday, reaching $6.23 per gallon for the first time.

According to Anadolu Agency, last week, the price of diesel exceeded the $6 threshold due to increasing oil prices globally, American Automobile Association data showed. The rise in diesel prices is closely linked to the fluctuations in the oil market, which has seen significant changes in recent days.

Brent futures are currently trading at $107.6, reflecting a 3% increase as of 0630GMT. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is trading at $102.8, marking a 2.8% rise. These figures indicate a broader trend of rising energy costs that are impacting various sectors across the United States.

Last week, US President Donald Trump commented on the situation, stating that the current high energy prices are connected to US efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. This political stance has had implications on international relations and market stability, influencing the ongoing price hikes in the energy sector.
