Beijing: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is set to embark on a one-day visit to China on Wednesday, engaging in crucial talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. This visit comes just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping's scheduled trip to the United States, as announced by China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, this meeting marks the second in-person discussion between Wang and Araghchi in Beijing since the United States and Israel initiated strikes on Iran on February 28. The last visit by Araghchi to Beijing took place in May, prior to a summit between US President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping.

Both ministers were also present at the recent BRICS summit held in New Delhi, where they were observed having a brief conversation. The backdrop of these talks includes significant military escalations, as the US and Israel launched extensive attacks on Iranian targets earlier in the year, hitting government buildings, military sites, missile infrastructure, and air defenses.

Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes against targets in Israel and US bases throughout the region. The conflict has since intensified, spreading across the region, while diplomatic efforts persist in a bid to bring an end to the hostilities.
