Muscat: An oil tanker that was attacked off the coast of Oman has been successfully towed to a port in the Sultanate, with two crew members still unaccounted for, as confirmed by the Omani Maritime Security Center.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Panama-flagged tanker "ELGAIA" experienced a fire in its engine room following an attack approximately 103 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate. In response, an Omani Royal Navy vessel evacuated 23 crew members, providing them with medical care. Efforts to locate the two missing crew members continue.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also issued a report on Tuesday, indicating that a vessel had been struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz at 2040GMT on Monday. However, UKMTO did not report any damage or environmental impact from the incident and did not specify the vessel involved, leaving it uncertain if their advisory pertained to the "ELGAIA" or another vessel entirely.
