Al-jawf: Yemeni forces killed five Houthis, including a field commander, in strikes on the group's positions in northern Al-Jawf province, pro-government media reported Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the West Coast media outlet, citing local sources, said the strikes targeted Houthi positions and barracks north of the Khabb wa al-Sha'af district on Monday evening. The report identified the field commander as Ghamdan Mohammed Ali Jaber al-Akwani, adding that four other Houthi members were also killed. All five were from the northern Saada province, a Houthi stronghold.

The incident comes amid escalating clashes between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis on several fronts. On Monday, government forces said they had downed three Houthi drones in Taiz and Shabwa, while strikes also targeted Houthi positions and military assets in western Taiz.

The Houthis, meanwhile, have reported dozens of airstrikes in recent days across several provinces, including Al-Jawf, as fighting intensifies.
