Ramallah: The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) said Saturday: more than 1 billion barrels of crude oil had transited the Strait of Hormuz in recent months under a US military blockade.

According to Anadolu Agency, Adm. Brad Cooper announced that CENTCOM forces have facilitated the passage of over 1 billion barrels of crude oil from the Gulf. This statement was shared by CENTCOM through the US social media platform X. Cooper emphasized that US forces have also supported more than 2,000 commercial vessel transits through this critical maritime route, ensuring coordinated protection for the ships.

Additionally, Cooper highlighted that the primary transit lanes in the Strait have been cleared of mines, allowing thousands of ships to navigate the waterway safely. He further stated that during the same period, Iran had not exported any oil, attributing this to what he described as the US's 'ironclad blockade.'

Cooper noted that the volume of crude oil, cargo, and liquefied natural gas moving through the strait over the past two weeks surpassed any point in the previous six months. Furthermore, efforts are underway with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, insurers, and shipping companies to boost traffic through this vital energy transit route.
