Khartoum: The Sudanese army announced on Saturday that it successfully shot down a strategic drone operated by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the southeastern region of Blue Nile state. The operation took place in the town of Kurmuk and was carried out by the army's 4th Infantry Division. According to their statement, the drone was downed without causing any casualties among government forces, highlighting the division's readiness and operational discipline.

According to Anadolu Agency, the RSF has not yet responded to the army's claims. Earlier on Saturday, the Sudanese army reported executing a 'tight ambush' against RSF forces and their allies from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North in the Magaja area of Blue Nile state. This ambush reportedly resulted in significant losses for the RSF, including the destruction of numerous military vehicles and equipment.

On Friday, the Sudanese army conducted a preemptive strike south of Al-Kayli in Blue Nile state, where it destroyed nine RSF combat vehicles and their associated equipment. The conflict has extended beyond Blue Nile and Darfur, impacting Sudan's North, West, and South Kordofan states since October of the previous year.

Sudan has been embroiled in a devastating conflict between the army and the RSF since April 2023. This ongoing war has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced approximately 13 million people, as estimated by the United Nations and other international organizations.
