Washington:Top US and Chinese trade negotiators reconvened in Washington on Wednesday as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepared to visit the US capital.

According to Anadolu Agency, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned to Fox News, on his way to an unscheduled meeting with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, that there was "some unfinished business from Sunday."

Bessent emphasized the importance of strategic stability, asserting that it must be rooted in reciprocity and fairness. The two officials previously met in New York on Sunday to discuss high-level issues concerning artificial intelligence security, critical minerals, and trade.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer also took part in Sunday's discussions. Upon Xi's arrival at Joint Base Andrews, he will be greeted by US President Donald Trump, marking the first time since 1962 that a US president has personally welcomed a foreign leader at the military base, breaking with decades of diplomatic protocol.
