New York:Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on United Nations member states to apply pressure on Israel to facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza. Speaking at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Erdogan emphasized the urgent need for rebuilding efforts, highlighting the dire conditions in Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan expressed his sorrow over Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' absence from the General Assembly for two consecutive years. He described Gaza as the world's largest cemetery for children, noting the alarming rates of child amputations in the region.

In other developments at the UN General Assembly, the United States, Denmark, and Greenland signed a security agreement to enhance cooperation in the Arctic and North Atlantic. US President Donald Trump hailed the agreement as significant for Europe, the United States, and Greenland, while Denmark and Greenland emphasized its benefits for NATO and Europe.

Additionally, Trump announced that his team engaged in a three-hour meeting with an Iranian delegation in New York, describing the discussions as very positive. US envoy Steve Witkoff noted that lengthy talks were conducted through mediators.
