Ankara:A possible new conflict with the United States could extend as far as the Indian Ocean if Iran faces renewed attacks, a senior Iranian military adviser cautioned on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, the senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader on military affairs, stated that the Iranian armed forces have developed plans for various scenarios. His comments were reported by Iran's Fars News Agency.

Safavi expressed uncertainty about the intentions of US President Trump and Israeli Premier Netanyahu. He emphasized that Iranian forces are prepared for the most severe scenarios should further US or Israeli assaults occur on Iran's facilities or national interests. In such a case, he warned, the conflict could escalate significantly.

He noted that the conflict has already expanded from the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea. Safavi suggested that in the subsequent stages of a potential war with the US, the conflict could further extend to the Indian Ocean or other regions.
