Ankara:Global crude steel production experienced a 1.2% year-on-year decrease in August, reaching 144.2 million tons. This decline was primarily driven by reduced output in China, the world's largest steel producer.

According to Anadolu Agency, China's production fell by 3.7% to 74.6 million tons during this period. In contrast, India increased its production by 4.6% to 14.8 million tons. The United States also saw an estimated increase of 3% to 7.3 million tons, while Japan's production rose slightly by 0.4% to 6.7 million tons.

Russia's estimated production decreased by 0.3% to 5.5 million tons, whereas South Korea boosted its output by 2.6% to 5.4 million tons. Turkey's production was slightly down by 0.4% to 3.4 million tons. Germany and Vietnam recorded increases, with Germany's production rising by 1.7% to 2.6 million tons and Vietnam achieving a significant 36.4% increase to 2.7 million tons. Meanwhile, Brazil's production dropped 6.2% to 2.7 million tons.

Over the January-August period, global crude steel production saw a marginal decline of 0.7%, totaling 1.2 billion tons. China's production decreased by 3.1% to 651.9 million tons, while India's production grew by 6% to 115.9 million tons. The United States estimated a rise of 5.5% to 57.5 million tons, and Japan's production slightly fell by 0.2% to 54 million tons.

Russia's production was estimated to have decreased by 5.1% to 43.8 million tons, while South Korea's output increased by 2.8% to 42.8 million tons over the same period. Turkey showed a strong growth trend with a 6.8% increase to 26.6 million tons. Germany's production rose by 6.3% to 23.9 million tons, whereas Brazil's production saw a decrease of 1.8% to 21.8 million tons.
