Ankara:Turkey has expressed strong disapproval of comments made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz about President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing the language used as 'undignified and inappropriate' and asserting that such remarks cannot overshadow the situation in Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran criticized Katz's statements, suggesting they were an attempt to deflect from Israel's 'record of genocide in the eyes of humanity or before history.'

Duran's statement also mentioned Katz's reported interest in Turkish television dramas, noting that while TV series can be informative, true historical understanding is found in the collective memory and conscience of nations. He emphasized that history is currently unfolding and that under Erdogan's leadership, Turkey will persist in advocating for justice, peace, and the rights of those impacted by conflict.

The statement further criticized the Israeli government's actions in Gaza, which are under significant scrutiny and face serious allegations from the international community and under international law.

Concluding with a reference to a Turkish poet, the statement underscored that silence cannot erase history or truth, asserting, 'If we remain silent, history will not. If history falls silent, truth will not.'
