New York:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he discussed the provision of Patriot missiles to Kyiv with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a meeting held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting occurred as Kyiv faced "three waves of ballistic strikes" by Russia, according to Zelenskyy.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy shared on social media platform X that he had briefed Rutte on the overnight attacks against the Ukrainian capital. He emphasized the need for Patriot interceptors, stating they are currently the only effective option against ballistic missiles, which are needed "practically every day."

The discussions also covered Ukraine's requirements for Patriot missiles and plans for securing a winter support package. Rutte, in his statement on X, underscored that despite Russia's continued attacks, NATO's response remains steadfast, emphasizing ongoing support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy, who arrived in New York on Monday, addressed the General Assembly on Wednesday and has engaged in several bilateral meetings. Meanwhile, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that two people were killed and at least eight injured following the strikes in Kyiv.

Additionally, later on Thursday, Zelenskyy met with executives from over 30 leading American companies and members of the Economic Advisory Group in New York.
