New York:Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly to a largely empty hall as delegations from several countries walked out in protest against Israel's actions in Gaza. Large demonstrations also took place across New York.

According to Anadolu Agency, the protests were a response to Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The demonstrations included anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews, American and Israeli Jewish opposition groups, and Western and Palestinian organizations.

Before Netanyahu began his speech, large crowds demonstrated near UN headquarters and other locations in New York, accusing him of committing genocide in Gaza. The Yedioth Ahronoth reported that many delegates left the hall immediately as Netanyahu took the podium, and Israel's Channel 12 showed an image depicting mostly empty seats in the hall.

The conflict in Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 8, 2023, has resulted in more than 73,000 Palestinian deaths and over 175,000 injuries, primarily affecting children and women, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Israel's military actions have also destroyed 90% of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, with the UN estimating reconstruction costs at approximately $70 billion.
