Ankara:US President Donald Trump announced that American authorities collaborated with British security services to arrest five men near the RAF Fairford air base in western England.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump stated that the suspects were planning to cause significant damage to ports. He praised the cooperation between the US and UK, noting that the suspects were under investigation and surveillance prior to their arrest.

The US Embassy in London issued a security alert after the arrests, advising American citizens to be vigilant as US-associated facilities and gatherings may be at increased risk. The alert also reminded travelers that the UK's terror threat level is assessed as "severe."

British authorities declared a major incident in a nearby village, evacuating 85 households after the arrests, which were made under the Explosives Act. UK Counter Terrorism Policing confirmed that the suspects were detained on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism.

The RAF Fairford base, which supports US Air Force operations, has been involved in missions against Iran since February. Security measures around the base intensified after Britain declared its readiness to defend against potential Iranian retaliation following warnings related to US bombers operating from Fairford.
